We broke our ultimate travel rule: try not to visit the same place twice. That goes for big things, like countries, and it also goes for small things, like coffee shops. But we broke that rule for one of my all-time favorite stops in Costa Rica, which is Hotel Villa Caletas. It’s a luxury, waterfront hotel sitting atop the most gorgeous mountaintop. The drive up the mountain to the hotel is about 15 minutes, with the most jaw-dropping views. While we didn’t actually lodge here, we took advantage of their ocean-front restaurant. You get the best of both worlds with the mountains AND ocean in one place. The most romantic part: it feels like you’re stepping right into Italy. The Italian influence is clear.
We ended up coming for drinks in the evening for a classic Costa Rica sunset (A MUST DO). I grabbed a Cosmo and ran to the outdoor theater to watch the spectacular colors fill the sky. It was a moment in time where something took my breath away. We also came for breakfast. The service is outstanding. Prices are a little more on the expensive side, but I feel as thought it’s to be expected for a place like this. Let me know if you end up going!
